Project Participation and Training in Health and Science (PATHS) was a program designed to improve the educational achievement of Hispanic students of the Dallas Independent School District. While Hispanic students were the principal target participants, all students were allowed to participate in PATHS activities. PATHS was a three year science education program funded by the Science Education Partnership Award. The lessons provided in this website can be used by anyone including health teachers, health educators, parents, and lay health workers in order to educate students on healthy lifestyles. The lessons, available in English and Spanish, were modified from the Salud Para Su Corazon program that includes topics such as cardiovascular disease, nutrition, and physical activity. A different health professional is highlighted at the end of each lesson to increase interest in health and science careers by high school students. Supplemental information to be used in conjunction with the corresponding lesson can be easily retrieved using the drop down menus for presentations, handouts, and quizzes. Brief video or sound introductions and conclusions to each lesson are also available.
